Yes, I was given a wood duck box sold by a disorder wildlife agency that came with a bag of cedar shavings. But, I reckon most any wood shavings will work just as well. Tell your dad to nail a cut of metal flashing about 24″ wide around the tree or post to prevent snakes from getting the baby ducks. Excellent luck.
