How to get ducks to land in a small moving body of water in my woods in DE.?
There is a small branch of water that runs through my woods. It is under a power line so it is clear from the air. I have seen ducks in the area so i know they are familiar but i want them to land in and i want more ducks so i can hunt the area in the following years. I know wood ducks glide along the power lines. i have though about baiting the spot in the off season and construction wood duck boxes to place along the water. what other thoughts could i benefit from????

I by now know about Call Ducks, but I’m not sure if I can find any around here. What are some other smaller breeds of ducks for a breeding pen, not meat. Also, do you know of any good breeders? Preferably, near Minnesota.

How to attract birds to a small swampy area?
We have a small wet area (about an acre or two, depending on the water level – it’s not very deep, just a little mushy) and we would like to attract birds there, and maybe even get some to nest there. It’s in the Midwest and pretty far north, so it gets very cold in the chill but stays warm in the summer. The area is very close to the woods.
If we put up a few bird houses what would be the best option? A duck household would be cool, but we haven’t seen ducks there for several years. Is our best bet to put up a few plain birdhouses for the swallows, or could we attract something larger and cooler?

Duck is wild, lives on my pond. It’s half Muscovy, half Blue Swedish. I can’t find duck food locally. I’ve been feeding it multi-grain bread, about a slice a day. I would only feed it a small part once a day. Is chicken feed a healthier alternative to bread?
