The Canadian goose is a species of goose common to America. It is brownish-gray in color with a black neck and head. Canadian geese are famed for their habits of being usually monogamous for life. Canadian geese can be found throughout the United States and Canada.

Canadian geese prefer to nest on dry ground but near water and feeding areas. They eat roots, tubers, leaves, alfalfa, oats, rye, barley, wheat, sorghum and corn. These geese are considred a nuisance on golf courses, beaches, and parks because of large waste messes, general aggression, and territoriality.

For complete instructions and downloads see: wdfw.wa.gov The Oregon and Washington Fish and Wildlife Commissions have approved permitting requirements for northwest Oregon and southwest Washington goose hunters, which include passing a written examination. The booklet and video titled “Pacific Northwest Goose Management” are designed to assist you in successfully passing the exam by providing information about goose management issues in the region and ways to identify geese while hunting. Follow these steps: 1. Review all the materials in the booklet carefully. 2. View the video online at this site or purchase it using the ordering information in the booklet. 3. Once you understand these materials, you will be ready to take the examination, either online at this site or in person at one of the testing locations listed in the current Migratory Waterfowl and Upland Game Seasons pamphlet. 4. Once you pass (you have up to three attempts), a goose hunting permit will be issued to you.

Is White Goose Better Then White Duck Bedding?

In the world of down bedding there are many choices for what filling material is the best to use for different types of items like pillows, comforter and feather beds. We will explore where down comes from and if there any notable differences in the feel, smell and wash and dry instructions.

Down bedding is nature’s perfect solution to helping you stay toasty warm. Not only is it lightweight but it surrounds you in cloud like warmth. Down and feathers are a by-product of poultry consumption in Eastern Europe and China for Geese and Ducks. Soft down comes from the underbelly of those birds and feathers come from the wing areas. Down and feathers behave entirely different, with down being very soft and fluffy, while feathers are more rigid and help to provide support. Down is uses primarily in comforters and pillows while feathers are used in some bed pillows and feather beds.

Geese and ducks come in multiple varieties and can range in color from white to grey to black to tan and several shades across. The color of the ducks or geese makes no difference on the performance of the down or feathers. Typically American consumers perceive White Goose Down do be the platinum standard and to a lesser degree White Duck Down. There are reasons why the color of the filling can make a difference, with the biggest reason being that down bedding is typically made using white fabric – so a dark color filling will give the appearance of a grey look when placed behind white cloth. Sometimes an all grey filling is actually more consistent in looks then a white filling. This is because when white fillings are processed it is hard to completely remove stray dark color down or feathers short of hand tweezering the fillings. So a white blend filling with show what stray dark color filling in several places (this is called flecking). In contrast a grey blend filling – duck or goose will likewise contain several white pieces.

Now when it comes to species, duck versus goose there are some clear differences. Generally speaking most ducks seem to have an oiler surface coat which even after thorough hypoallergenic cleaning processes still stays around. This oiler coating tends to give duck fillings whether they are down or feathers a stronger natural smell. It should be noted that many consumers also have reported that duck down products are harder to care for and if a piece of duck down bedding is not washed and dried properly then they can have an odor post home machine washing and drying. Of course in clinical testing this odor is not found so the home washing process cannot mimic the cleaning process used at the down processing facilities.

All this being said we have seen some amazing high fill power French White and Grey Duck Downs which rival the best white goose downs from Poland, Hungary and Canada. The most important thing when buying down bedding is that you purchase it from a manufacturer who owns and operates their own processing capabilities and can showcase their hypoallergenic fillings.

To buy your own hypoallergenic down bedding you can buy online from DOWNLITE at their bedding sale website ShopDownLite.com. DOWNLITE is one of the largest and oldest down processors in the United States who makes most of their bedding in the USA.

The Bar-headed Goose (rear) is a very attractive species. Both sexes share the twin-barring on the head. The rest of the head is white with a streak running down the sides of the neck. The back of the neck is dark gray to black, rest of the body gray overall. To insure you have a pair, you may need to vent sex. Immature geese are somewhat paler and lack the bars on the head.

The Emperor Goose (Chen canagica) (front left) is a species of goose. It breeds around the Bering Sea, mostly in Alaska, USA, but also in Kamchatka, Russia. It is migratory, wintering mainly in the Aleutian Islands.

The Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) (front right) is a goose species closely related to the smaller Lesser White-fronted Goose (A. erythropus).

Captured AS SEEN MY WAY… The reflections of course always catches my eye.. the lighting kept changing.. the splendid natural colours and odd shadow on the water and the shimmering lighting as the goose swims by…

The Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) is a wild goose belonging to the genus Branta, which is native to Arctic and temperate regions of North America, having a black head and neck, white patches on the face, and a brownish-gray body. It is often called the Canadian Goose, but that name is not the ornithological standard, or the most common name. The black head and neck with white "chinstrap" distinguish the Canada Goose from all other goose species, with the exception of the Barnacle Goose, but the latter has a black breast, and also grey, rather than brownish, body plumage. There are seven subspecies of this bird, of varying sizes and plumage details, but all are recognizable as Canada Geese. Some of the smaller races can be hard to distinguish from the newly-separated Cackling Goose.
This species is 76–110 cm (30–43 in) long with a 127–180 cm (50–71 in) wingspan. The male usually weighs 3.2–6.5 kg, (7–14 pounds), and can be very aggressive in defending territory. The female looks virtually identical but is slightly lighter at 2.5–5.5 kg (5.5–12 pounds), generally 10% smaller than its male counterpart, and has a different honk. An exceptionally large male of the race B. c. maxima, the "giant Canada goose" (which rarely exceed 8 kg/18 lb), weighed 10.9 kg (24 pounds) and had a wingspan of 2.24 m (88 inches). This specimen is the largest wild goose ever recorded of any species. The life span in the wild is 10–24 years.
During the second year of their lives, Canada Geese find a mate. They are monogamous, and most couples stay together all of their lives If one is killed, the other may find a new mate. The female lays 3–8 eggs and both parents protect the nest while the eggs incubate, but the female spends more time at the nest than the male.
Adult geese are often seen leading their goslings in a line, usually with one parent at the front, and the other at the back. While protecting their goslings, parents often violently chase away nearby creatures, from small blackbirds to humans that approach, after warning them by giving off a hissing sound. Most of the species that prey on eggs will also take a gosling. Although parents are hostile to unfamiliar geese, they may form groups of a number of goslings and a few adults, called crèches. The offspring enter the fledging stage any time from 6 to 9 weeks of age. They do not leave their parents until after the spring migration, when they return to their birthplace. Once they reach adulthood, Canada Geese are rarely preyed on, but (beyond humans) can be taken by Coyotes, Red Foxes, Gray Wolves, Snowy Owls, Great Horned Owls, Golden Eagles and, most often, Bald Eagles.

Their were probroly others but i dident spot them in the crowd of birds.
