Wood Ducks, Yearly maintaining wood duck boxes Ducks Unlimited
This is a video of how we maintain our Wood duck boxes on our property in Connecticut. Each year Wood duck boxes have to be cleaned and repaired to have them ready for the next breeding season. There are thousends of Wood Duck boxes all crosswise America, most of them are put up and installed by hunters. The fact is if it were not for hunters and groups like Ducks Boundless and Delta Waterfowl the Wood ducks would be a very rare bird. Peta and Greenpeace maintaine absolutly no Wood Duck boxes but they like to take credit for the return of the populace of the Wood Duck. For a fun scheme with your kid build a few boxes and get permission to put them on just about any pond you see in your area, a kid feels a certin amount of pride to know that he/she made it possable for a brood of Wood ducks to succesfully hatch and flurish. We intended to shoot one video but we had to do it in two parts, part two is installing new duck boxes on poles for prospect nesting ducks.
