Ducks At A Distance

What types of ducks/geese live around New Orleans?

My husband and I were driving through Metarie yesterday and saw a bird in the Neutral ground of W. Esplanade near the canal. It looked like a goose but it had red and orange gobbler type growth around its bill. There were a few of them as well as some other ducks that we recognized. I am wondering what kinds of bird this force have been.

A strange dog follows me around, what should I do?

It’s a a mongrel terrier with pointed ears and a squirrel’s tail. He goes about with me. He picked me up this morning at ten o’clock, and he won’t leave me. He goes after me everywhere. I tried everything to get rid of him, but he never comes near enough for me to get hold of him. He just sits six inches out of reach with his mouth open, and looks at me. I thought I had got rid of him when I came in restaurant in a ountain, in the woods (I was having a scenery walk) to have a meal. I left him busy killing a duck more than a quarter of an hour away. I’ll have to pay for that, I expect, on my way back. But he found me in the restaurant, chasing two pigs and a chicken into the room. The waitress with a pan who was going to serve threw her pan into the air and lay down on the stump. I upset the desk before me with everything upon it. The hen scuttled, screaming, up the wall, and with the help of the cat fetched down everything that was not by now on the stump. When they managed to chase the dog away, the landlord said that it was a “playful dog of mine”. He said it would not do, and I agreed, and told him that I was tired of telling public that it was not my dog, and they none of them believed me. I told him the total tale, and he said that it was the most amusing he heard for a long while! I am tired of this dog, I am tired of paying for his excesses and his “playfulness”. What should I do?
