Next to my house, there is a bunch of woods, where a lot of wildlife lives. There is this pond where fish and ducks are common sites, and everything drinks from the pond. There are teenage kids that party over there and get drunk, and recently been shooting the ducks (which i believe in hunting, but only in season). They throw trash in the pond (beer cans, etc). But in the past few days kids have dumped a lot of gas in the pond causing most of the fish to die, a duck, and a couple turkeys have died because of it. Is there anything i can do to stop it? Can anybody clean it up? Would it be ok if id take the duck that they clipped its wings and take it to a different pond? PLEASE HELP!

Field guides help us identify and learn more about what we see in the wildlife. It is very interesting to read, plus it could help us treat nature with more care if we understand wildlife more.

Field guides are any reading materials like books and magazines about the different wildlife we see around. Wildlife encompasses plants or animals, whether extinct already or still existing. These references help readers understand more about the wildlife and the occurrence of natural objects.

Researchers and biologists scientifically study how plants and animals behave in different environments, its defense mechanisms, how it survives, and other important characteristics that help us understand more their natural processes. These are also compared and contrasted with similar species.

They use highly technological equipment to extensively gather facts. These are then collated in a very simple to understand reading material we refer to as field guides.

Some species may look exactly the same at first glance, but after careful and close scrutiny, you will learn significant and major differences about the two. Referring to the field guide will easily bring light about these facts.

Field guides are designed in a way that everyone could easily understand it even without thorough background in biology or zoology. One will usually see charts, enumerations and short descriptions for easy reading and classification.

Species are grouped into several categories like identification keys, scientific names, common names, what they eat, natural habitats, how each is grown, how to take care of it, and other important trivial facts. It fosters learning as there is ready comparison side by side with other species. The reader can browse in only a matter of minutes and be able to grasp and absorb everything. It is indeed a very useful guide.

There are many different types of field guides according to species. There could be one that is strictly about one specific bird only. It could be dedicated to explaining the different kinds of ducks, penguins or humming birds.

There are also many different kinds of flowers that it is further subdivided into specific groups. One field guide might be only about the many different types of roses, or sunflowers and tulips.

The most common reference materials are insect field guides because many people want to be knowledgeable on how to prevent diseases that come from harmful insects. At the same time they also want to know which kinds of insects are beneficial to them.

Below are some of the field guides available in the market.

The Wildflowers is a series of books that began in the year 1995. The very first publication was called the Tallgrass Prairie Wildflowers. This series also includes different books about the ecosystem of Florida and Northern Rockies. They have detailed information of a certain plant from the classification, habitat and tips on how to make such flowers bloom.

The Scats and Tracks are identification guides for readers who want to know about the different kinds of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. This is a pocket size book that features scats and tracks. It also features different species of elusive jaguarondi and common crow.

The Redwood Region Flower Finder is a field guide of the pacific region. It provides complete information about the wildflowers in the range where redwood trees are available. It states the importance of those wildflowers in the forestry of redwood.

The National Geographic is one of the most popular and widely read nature field guides. It is comprehensive and authoritative. The National Geographic is one of the best selling books in United States. This has been made as travel guide by many travelers. Grab this book if you plan to go nature tripping to the United States or other famous parts of the world.

This weekend while mowing the lawn my son found a baby duck in the grass. He had an injured leg that he dragged behind him. (The duck not my son.) We named him Quackers. He was no more then a handful of feathers. I don’t know how he got there but he soon became our family project. Before the day was done we had found a second little duck swimming in the pool. He was a challenge to catch so we named him speedy. We proceeded to care for the little orphans the best that we could. We gave them a little dish of water to swim in and some bread to eat.

The next morning I woke up early and started searching online to figure out what exactly to do with the refugees. I discovered a whole forum of people who had also found and rescued little ducks. All of them like me were oblivious to the care and feeding of the little beasties. I soon discovered that I had done everything wrong!

They should not have been given bread because it blocks them up. We all know how that feels! They should not have gotten wet because they don’t have the appropriate oils without their mother, until they are older. I also needed to make sure they were very warm and very dry. I had to buy them special food etc..

As I was searching and chatting I also discovered that you can buy diapers for your duck. Apparently ducks just go when they need to as long as they are not blocked up. If you would like your farm foul to be a house duck then a diaper apparently is in order. I was entertained by the pictures of the ducks with their diapers and the people who just love their house ducks and believe that they are the best of the pets. I found one site that insisted that ducks are great house pets but geese are better. Apparently a dog is no longer mans best friend. A duck is, as long as he has a diaper!

Being in the Online Marketing Business I had to apply what I had learned from Quackers and Speedy to the online society.

There is an Online Niche for Just about Anything!

The duck diaper business could explode following after the doggie t-shirt. There is a whole crew of new consumers out there with their little duck refugees just waiting for their duck diapers. None of them even knew that ducks needed diapers or that the duck was man’s best friend. From the posts in the forum I think women’s best Friend is probably more accurate.

Someone into Ducks could Promote a very profitable Web Site.

There are a ton of people out there waiting for a web site that will instruct them in the proper care and feeding of their duckies and how to make them the perfect pets. Many like me were just wandering around waiting for someone to tell us what to do with the little webbed and billed beasties.

Inspiration is everywhere

If you haven’t found an idea for making money online there are ideas everywhere. If you are into house ducks feel free to use this one. Believe me I will not be having a house duck and changing it’s diapers.

What about Quackers and Speedy?

I know all you sentimental sorts are waiting for the happy ending. Well Speedy is doing great. He isn’t very friendly and I’m unsure if he is ever going to warm up to people. The kids have played pretty well with him. I think if he was bigger he would bite them. I am hopeful that he will continue to grow and be able to return to the wild.

Quackers, the sweeter of the two, has moved on to a better place. We had a little ceremony as we ushered him into the casket (which should be picked up by the trash man tomorrow). The kids wanted to burry him in the yard but with three dogs he may have have had a resurrection from his shallow grave. Quackers had an injured leg and I think that he simply wasn’t strong enough to survive.

I hope you found this helpful and instructive. There are a ton of ways to make money online, ducky diapers is just one of them. Jump in and learn how you can make money from a silly idea or something that is of interest to you.

I’m thinking about raising Call Ducks for a 4h breeding pen this year. What can you tell me about them?
How small are they?
What color varieties do they come in?
Do they make nice pets?
I hatched a duckling last spring, and he imprinted on me. Will they do that if I have more then one?
Are they hard to show and hard to keep clean? I’ve shown chickens the past two years.

Any good websites would be great too!

Thanks!

No cat wants to be dirty, and it’s up to you to ensure that your cat stays clean. Grooming is very important, as it helps your cat remain clean and healthy. Grooming starts with brushing, as brushing helps to keep the cats hair from becoming hairballs. Brushing will remove loose hair, and help prevent the risk of hairballs. A lot of cats have trouble dislodging hairballs. If the cat isn’t able to get a hairball out, it could result in a blockage of the intestines. Blockages are very serious, and can quickly become life threatening for your pet.

Cats that have long hair need to be brushed and combed on a daily basis, while cats with short hair need to be groomed on a weekly basis. When you brush your cat, you should always watch for lumps in the coat and skin irritations. You should start brushing along the cat’s back, going from his head to his tail. Do this a few times on one side, and then switch to the other. Each area should be brushed a few times in the direction of the way your cat’s hair is growing.

When you brush your cat, you should always avoid brushing his face and paws. If a cat doesn’t like to be brushed, you can still groom him using another tool. The grooming glove is an excellent alternative to the brush, as most cats don’t mind it at all. Starting out young is the key to grooming, as it will get your cat used to brushing and grooming. Some cats that have started grooming when they were kittens grow to love it, many of which often look forward to their grooming time.

When brushing your cat, make sure that you check his ears, eyes, teeth, and claws. His eyes should be bright and clear with nothing residing in the corners. His ears should be clean, pink in color, and no sign of ear mites. Ear mites result from dirt built up in a cat’s ears, and can result in the ears shriveling up and your cat losing his hearing. Ear mites are very annoying for the cat, and hard for you as an owner to get rid of. The best way to get rid of them – is to ensure that your cat’s ears stay clean and healthy.

Each time you groom your cat, you should always aim to go a bit further with your examinations. When your cat remains still, you should always praise him and give him a treat. If your cat doesn’t cooperate and starts to struggle, you shouldn’t fight with him, but instead let him go and try the next day. Once your cat gets used to grooming he will look forward to it each and every day.
