Ducks At A Distance

No one will help the farm ducks in my community, what should i do?

Question by mingosaysss: No one will help the farm ducks in my community, what should i do?
Someone dropped off 3 of there farm ducks, wings clipped and everything, to our local pond. I feel dreadful about this because they have obviously been hand raised, and dont know how to live in the wild. Ive called several facts and no one wants to help.

What is next? I would really like to help these animals out.

It is illegal to allow domestic ducks to live in the wild as they breed with wild ducks and taint the lines. Not excellent for some of the rare types. If the control aren’t doing anything try to call the animal shelter for a reference to a rescue or sanctuary for abandoned animals.

Highly irresponsible, doing a thing like that, the owners are duty leap to find a suitable home or shelter for their uninvited animals. Not expect a caring animal lover to take over.Requirments of farm/hand raised poultry are very different from those who have been hatched & raised by their mothers in the open.
Ducks are very excellent at foraging & may get by without much of a diet hassle.
The main problem here is housing, these ducks will need a warm safe shelter for the night, they will be simple target for a predator, what with clipped wings.Even a strong carton kept in a warm secluded place will do in an emegency.Am i right in thinking that this duty is diminishing in your hands until you get help,if you have faced a block with facts you called, try a feed store who may guide you with a neighboring farm take up or pet owners, usually they are not averse to adding a few more birds to their stock.Hope you have luck,i do appreciate your concern.

For now I would feed them and in time their wings will grow back and they will learn from the other ducks. I would call the animal rescue and talk to them if they haven’t done anything on their own before chill came or build a littel hut with some hay in it for them to shelter.
