There are commercially made plastic colored bands. A feed store that sells chickens force have them. Or eBay.

The simple thing to do is to just buy a metal bird band to go around their leg. It wont hurt or bother them and it will be a way for you to tell them from one another as well as to let anyone who finds them who they belong to.
