Ducks At A Distance

Can some help me identify what type of insect bit me in the lake?

I was standing in waterlogged aquatic weeds in a small lake and I received numerous bites on my legs. The irritation and itching got of poorer quality after 24 hours. Someone said it force be duck mites but I don’t reckon they live in aquatic weeds. Does anyone have a clue?

its water fleas … not a common bug, but they can bite and make you itch for days …. Rub your legs with ammonia , it will neutralize the
    toxins from the bites…

Are you sure you got them in the water? Perhaps, just speculation here, but you could have gotten the bites from the sand. They are called most commonly (different names for different regions) SAND MITES. They itch like crazy. The above answer was very excellent in recommending an allergy med. as it will help with the itching. Hope this helps.

Hi, It was about 20 years ago, that I suffered the same thing, only I was affected from the chest and down. The bugs are called Chiggers and they are so small you won’t even see them. The itching is dreadful and I had a sunburn at the same time. Just use a calomine oil, or whatever works for you.
